Matt ‘Jammies’ Springer

    Literature Reviewer

Matt 'Jammies' Springer has been a lifelong Star Wars fan and a lover of all Star Wars prose. On the day of his birth, the lead story in his hometown newspaper was the start of the Star Wars Newspaper Comic Strips by Russ Manning—so he claims Star Wars as his astrological sign. The first movie he remembers seeing was The Empire Strikes Back, although he fell asleep after the Hoth scenes. A few years later (and despite his dyslexia), he taught himself to read using the Marvel Comic adaptation of Empire.

Jammies’s love of reading and love for “the Wars” collided one fateful summer while back to school shopping with his mom at a department store. In an attempt to avoid trying on slacks, he wondered off and checked out the bookshelves. One look at the red eyed Grand Admiral on the cover of Heir to the Empire, and he was hooked.  Soon came Dark Horse Comics and West End Games supplements to take what was left of his allowance.  Decades later, he still spends most of his allowance on Star Wars books and comics.  While he grew up with Legends, he is just as excited for the future of Star Wars canon.

He has been in fandom for decades; has received the Star Wars Insider since back when it was called Bantha Tracks, has been a member of several fan clubs, posts on theforce.net, chairs the Louisville Kentucky (USA) Star Wars Book Club, plans Star Wars Reads Day activities, builds star wars scale models, participates in sci- fi model clubs, and spreads the gospel of Waru to heretics and heathens alike.
