Jason’s first memory of Star Wars goes back to a New Year's Day viewing of Star Wars: A New Hope when his childhood imagination was sparked into action. A short while later his parents bought him a large amount of second hand figures, including a Millennium Falcon, which he still has. An obsession with sci-fi was born and still burns bright. For Jason growing up in the eighties didn’t mean just watching the movies, but also the animated television series Droids and Ewoks which is where his love for animated Star Wars began.
Fast forward to the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm and The Clone Wars series coming to an end, Jason began to look for a way of introducing Star Wars to his two young daughters. The arrival of Rebels and the latest releases of films has helped and they have now joined him in his passion, which has allowed them to share a common interest. Both his daughters have embraced the series, but worryingly their favourite character of Darth Maul!
As well as enjoying the latest Star Wars cinematic iterations, the animated LEGO series and The Freemaker Adventures has meant that the Star Wars characters are more accessible to the younger fan. With this wealth of new material available to him, Jason has found a chance to reboot his love for Star Wars and enjoys promoting it for younger generations. He is especially enjoying the new comic book characters such as Doctor Aphra.
His other passion is his LEGO Star Wars; and his pride and joy is his LEGO Ghost and both versions of the Phantom.
Through his work with Jedi News, he hopes to guide a new generation of Star Wars fans like any good Jedi Master should. Jason’s own favourite character is Yoda and aspires to one day be as wise as he is (although with his Dorset accent, at times he is already as difficult to understand).
Oh, I hear you asking, why is he known as ‘Hondo’? Ask him for yourself and he may tell you one day!
