Who's who in
Something, Something, Something Dark Side

Star Wars and Family Guy have much in common... colourful characters, a dedicated audience, and a disregard for a little thing fans like to call "continuity". To celebrate the release of the latest Star Wars special, Something, Something, Something Dark Side, on Blu-ray and DVD on 28th December we'll be running a feature on the release each Friday in December.
To kick off, find out which characters from Family Guy will be taking on classic Star Wars roles in the upcoming DVD special, including the new roles of Lando, Yoda and Boba Fett…
Chris Griffin is… Luke Skywalker
“Aren’t you a little fat to be a Stormtrooper?”
Chris is the teenage son of the Griffin family, who is troubled by the Evil Monkey who lives in his closet, and will take on the role of Luke Skywalker.

Peter Griffin is… Han Solo
“It’s the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.”
“Isn’t a parsec a unit of distance, not time?”
Peter is the fat and lazy father of the Griffin household, and features in the specials as Han Solo. In Blue Harvest his character also narrated the story, explaining the unique wording of the opening crawl.

Lois Griffin is… Princess Leia
“Great idea Princess, diving into a pile of garbage. When we get out of here, maybe you can show me around your home planet of Alderaan. Awww, too soon?”
Clearly the kiss between Luke and Leia in The Empire Strikes Back isn’t already treading murky enough waters, because Lois is the mother of Chris Griffin…

Glen Quagmire is… C-3PO
“Who would you rather do – Jabba the Hutt right after a shower, or a service droid?”
Quagmire is Peter’s friend and neighbour with a ridiculously high libido, making him the obvious choice to play the fussy and particular C-3PO.

Cleveland is… R2-D2
“What? A Droid can’t walk down the desert no more?”
Cleveland is another of Peter’s friends, and is no hurry to get his words out.
Brian is... Chewbacca
"We could always light candles and read."
Brian is the Griffin family talking dog, and being the hairy fellow he is plays Chewbacca.

Mort Goldman is… Lando Calrissian
"Peter! You're not eating those are you?"
The Jewish proprietor of Goldman’s Pharmacy narrowly missed the TV edit of Blue Harvest, but pops up on the DVD edition playing a Jawa. He is awkward, nervous and suffers from a huge list of ailments… so will of course be taking the role of the unbelievably smooth Lando Calrissian.

Stewie Griffin is… Darth Vader
“My God, look at this mess! ‘Hey, Darth Vader is coming, do you think we should clean up?’ ‘Nah, he won't mind.’”
The baby of the Griffin household is a self-confessed evil genius bent on world domination, although his height is somewhat lacking compared to Darth Vader’s.

The Giant Chicken is… Boba Fett
“What are we fighting about?”
Suitably, Peter Griffin’s arch-nemesis (with whom he had the longest animated fight in TV history) plays Han Solo’s arch-nemesis, Boba Fett. The Giant Chicken randomly pops up in Family Guy episodes to interrupt Peter’s conversations with their continuing battle.

Carl is… Yoda
“47 minutes, 16 seconds in.”
Carl is the local convenience store worker who enjoys “discussing” movies.

Herbert is… Obi-Wan Kenobi
“Hmmm, Obi-Wan Kenobi. I wonder if he means old Obi-Wan Kenobi?”
The local neighbourhood letch appeared in Blue Harvest as the Jedi Master.

Joe Swanson is… Imperial Probe Droid
“Don’t help me up, I need to retain my independence.”
Peter’s handicapped friend and neighbour crept back into the DVD release of Family Guy: Blue Harvest, and returns for this special to discover the Rebel base on Hoth.

The Family Guy/Star Wars Saga will of course conclude with the third installment, re-telling Return of the Jedi in a way that only Family Guy can. But who will take on the new roles in Episode VI? Jabba the Hutt, the Emperor, Wicket and the Ewoks, Admiral Ackbar, Nien Numb… all of these characters are up for grabs, and later in December we’ll be looking at which characters from Family Guy could play the key characters from Return of the Jedi.
