Hasbro Q&A - The Answers (Week 55 - Jedi News Week 17)
Reported by James on 09 Jun 2008 00:28

You asked the questions (were yours chosen?) and here's the answers to the 17th batch of questions and our ninth batch for 2008 - sorry they're a little later than normal, blame Stitch and Disneyland Paris for that!  Thanks to Hasbro for giving the UK fans a chance to get their voices heard and their questions answered here at Jedi News, the UK's premiere Star Wars fan site.

Thanks for sending in your questions and keep them coming for the next Q&A (take the link above or on the left hand menu), we need your questions by next Friday, 13th June (my birthday), please!

Read on for the Questions and Answers...

1.  With the success of the McQuarrie Signature Series of figures and the renewed commitment to vehicles shown recently, have you given any thoughts to producing vehicles based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept paintings to sit alongside the figures?

We probably would not get to these, as we would get better overall results from focusing on vehicles from new animation or updates to classic.

2.  We have only seen/heard about eight basic figures from the Clone Wars (Yoda, Anakin, Obi Wan, General Grievous, Captain Rex, Battle Droid, R2-D2 and Clone Trooper) that will be debuting on the 26th July.  Will these be the only Clone Wars Animated figures premiering on that date, or will there be more Clone Wars figures released on July 26th that we’ve not seen yet – and is so what are they?  If that’s not the case, can you let us know when we’re likely to see more figures from the Clone Wars and what they’ll be?  How about a few pictures too?

Those will be the only eight figures available on 7/26 for the mainline Clone Wars figures. There will be a couple others available as exclusives but that's it for the basic figures. The next wave won't be at retail until a couple months later - right now the end of September. Once we saw how amazing the animation was taking shape, we just couldn't get more into the line fast enough. Sorry, no pics are available yet for the future/upcoming waves. We plan to show many more at Comic Con.

3.  You’ve recently been using the Deluxe C-3PO sculpts for Battle Droid figures, which has very little articulation and trouble standing. Would you not consider modifying the Security Battle Droid, from the Power of the Jedi line, who has articulated knees and a more movie-esque stance? (The action feature was the only drawback on this figure and if it wasn’t for that it would be a Battle Droid worthy of army-building).

We chose this one for the aesthetics which we think work very well. Noted that they don't stand as well. We are looking at options to correct down the road...one of our solutions will be in the battle stands pack. The next time we release battle stands (after the current ones sell out), we are planning to put two foot pegs on which will "solve" the warping problem or at least make sure they don't lean left or right. Long-term, we might look at doing a new Battle Droid, although there is a great one also coming in the Clone Wars basic figure line.
