It's common practice to start your new business with a Ready-made limited company.
This is effectively an existing business with two registered directors (one director, one secretary). On purchase of the ready made package for a low fee (typically £100) you receive all the incorporation documents with already signed resignation letters from the directors, and forms to allow you to appoint new directors and change the company name.
This is a convenience only method, as this can be also done from scratch with the appropriate forms.
But it also has the added benefit of having an unconnected name for the business and directors with no formal connection to you. With some forward thought it is potentially possible to own a company that has no name connection to you (you can call it almost anything) and you do not need to be a director of the business you own.
If the researcher does not know the business name nor a director name it is near impossible to trace your secret company.
This is most commonly used by footballers who may sell their image rights for a nominal fee to a Ltd company they own but are not directors of. They then use that company to market their image rights for high sums of money globally, but only pay tax at the lower corporation tax, and not the 50% personal tax rate. This saves them money on taxes but also allows them to earn money hidden from the media as the company name can be obscure, and the directors could be friends, relatives or business advisors. Many celebrities companies have been found out in the media and accounts analysed, and many business names found to be pet names etc much to their embaressment.
In this instance LFL Productions Ltd, a subsidiary of LFL Production Holdings LLC and formally known as JAK Productions, Jett Productions, and Oasteril Ltd at various points since 1995 whose nature of trade is "Motion picture production activities" formed a new business on 26th March called FOODLES PRODUCTION (UK) LIMITED.
LFL Productions Ltd were the sole director until the 27th when they resigned.
On the 27th March three new directors were named, and the business address changed to Pinewood Studios.
For individuals privacy we have chosen not to name the directors, despite their appointments being of public record. We have verified that all three directors have a history of being directors to Disney productions such as Blackbeard Productions Ltd which was the legal entity behind the Pirates of the Calabrian films.
We have also established that at least one of the directors is based at a legal service firm with history of Disney work, operating at the same registered address as LFL Productions Ltd in London.
Foodles Production UK Ltd is now registered to Pinewood Studios address.
Registering the business by having LFL Productions as a director was not very discreet - even if just for one day. Business history exists for eternity. Why they opted to not go down the near intractable ready made limited company setup is unclear. In today's digital age, and in a high profile production this lacked all degrees of discretion.
They may have of course decided that there is no no point in trying to hide in this day and age but that would seem unlikely.
What is clear is that Lucasfilm have a motion picture production company called Foodles Productions UK Ltd based at Pinewood Studios in England since 26th March 2013.
