It was always a simple matter of time ever since the Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm was officially announced back in 2012 – how quickly would Disney integrate Star Wars into their existing and new product lines.

We learn via IGN that the wheels have been set in motion for the inclusion of Star Wars and Marvel properties to the Disney Infinity lineup

New versions of Disney Infinity using the Marvel and Star Wars properties are in development, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The news comes paired with reports that Disney’s interactive media branch is preparing to lay off “several hundred people despite a strong launch for its video game, ‘Infinity.'” When it released in August 2013, Disney sold over three million copies of its toy and video game product.
