My Top 5 The Force Awakens Moments: Number 4

The Blu Ray is getting ready to come out in just under 2 weeks and I feel like after seeing the film 7 times in the theater I am finally ready to nail down my top 5 favorite moments. It took a while as I processed and digested the film. Over the next 2 weeks leading up to the Blu Ray release you will be getting to read about my top 5 favorite moments, why I love them, why I ranked them in the order they are in and some of them may surprise you. So let’s dive back in with my #4 moment.

    #4 BB8 and Rey

I had originally considered when picking this as a moment that it would be the moment that BB8 and Rey first meet because for me it was just so powerful. However, as I began writing this I realized that it is more than that it is their entire relationship.

The relationship between BB-8 and Rey gives us our first insight into the character of Rey and who she truly is. Her ability to see BB-8 as a person and not just a droid is very important. We knew going into the film that she was our Hero but heroes are made not just through major heroic acts, it is the small things they do that really define them. Her natural kindness to rescue him and fix his antennae is so important and also the fact that she takes him in is probably even more pivotal. For me at least it shows just how much she cares for the wellbeing of others and how she won’t just let people suffer no matter how big or small they are.

I truly believe at this point her connection to the force is beginning to grow because she shows compassion for him in not selling him, she attacks Finn because BB-8 talks about his masters jacket and she sticks by him determined to complete her mission when Finn is perfectly willing to bail on the droid. I think that as much as he belongs to Poe and will always have a connection to the amazing pilot, BB-8 found someone that truly understands him in Rey. If R2 had not woken up BB-8 may have gone with Rey at the end of the film and that would have been quite a moment.

The relationship between the two of them has been epitomized by the fan art that has been done of the two. Here are a few of my favorites I found.

Probably the one that I love the most of the fan art is a Disney inspired one and I think it is very fitting. I don’t tend to be a Minnie Mouse fan but this piece of fan art really makes me like her. If Disney was still allowing the classic characters to dress as Star Wars characters I think Minnie should have a rey costume.

I really do feel that The Force Awakens would not be as good of a film without the relationship and character development that occurs between BB-8 and Rey. BB-8 allows us to truly get to know Rey and I am very thankful for that.

Stay tuned as we continue the countdown to the Blu Ray Release with my favorite The Force Awakens Moments
