We were contacted by our great buddy and fellow geek Lisa Hicks (aka @BatHobbit) about this fascinating new initiative, the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club.

Co-creator Emily Farquharson dropped us a line to explain the mission statement of the club.

Leslie & I have known each other for around 9 months and met through mutual appreciation of each other’s work (DS / Word to your Unicorn (hers) and House of the Fickle Queen (mine)). After a days worth of conversations about English things and the fact that we should be each others pen pals, we came up with the idea to create the International Geek Girl Pen Pals Club because if we wanted to send each other letters…surely there were others like us out there!

I’ve written an indepth blog on the first 72 hours of the project from inception to hitting registration capacity 3 days later, which can be found here.

What we are hoping to achieve is a glorious community of passionate women who want to share their loves and creativity with others via the medium of the hand written letter. In this day and age where everything is so fast and global communication is instantaneous, it feels good to go back to a often neglected form of correspondence and expression.

Our website can be found here and we also have a FB page
