2019 Is Here – Are You Ready For The Bonanza?

With 2018 officially in the rear-view mirror, it’s time for the Star Wars community as a whole to look towards the road ahead and all that 2019 will be bringing to us. We’ve said it before (as have many others) and will continue to say it – 2019 will go down as the greatest year ever for Star Wars fans in terms of the sheer quantity of brand new content to enjoy. Echoing our earlier Happy New Year post, just look at some of the main highlights mentioned below (listed in no particular order) that Lucasfilm/Disney will be delivering throughout this year:

– Theatrical release of Episode IX and conclusion of the Skywalker saga
– “Force Friday” merchandise event for Episode IX
Star Wars Celebration Chicago (5 awesome days!)
– Opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Walt Disney World
– Return of The Clone Wars animated series with “Clone Wars Saved”
– First ever live-action Star Wars series via Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian

Oh, and let’s not forget about potentially receiving production updates in 2019 on the new Star Wars trilogy being developed by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, the films being written and produced by Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, and the Cassian Andor live-action series starring Diego Luna that will be coming to the new Disney+ streaming service.

A true embarrassment of riches to say the least in my opinion. As mentioned earlier, these are just a few of the central things we will be experiencing/enjoying over the 12 months of 2019. Sprinkle in other entries such as new Star Wars books, comics, apparel, and conventions (Toy Fair, San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con) and you have the makings of a year that can be classified as “epic” in every sense of the word.

Are you ready for all this and more? Strap yourselves in and hold on tight. Real tight. It’s gonna be a WILD ride – a ride Team Jedi News cannot wait to take with you.

May the Force be with you in 2019!
