Marvel Cancels Star Wars: Shadow Of Vader After Firing Writer

Last month we repored that Chuck Wendig had been removed from his role on the upcoming Marvel Comic book series Star Wars: Shadow of Vader. This has prompted Marvel to now cancel the whole series. give us the full story;

Marvel Comics has officially canceled the planned Star Wars: Shadow of Vader miniseries, more than a month after firing writer Chuck Wendig.

The bestselling author announced in October that he had been fired from the final two issues of the miniseries because of his responses on Twitter to a dedicated campaign of harassment against him. Wendig said the harassment began shortly after the release of his 2015 novel Star Wars: Aftermath, which introduced a gay character into the franchise canon.

“It was too much politics, too much vulgarity, too much negativity on my part,” Wendig wrote of his firing. “Basically, because I was not civil.”

However, the ultimate fate of Shadow of Valor wasn’t clear, until now. Marvel has notified retailers that the entire miniseries, originally intended to debut this month, has been canceled and will not be resolicited.

This isn’t the first time someone who works within the Star Wars universe has faced real world ramifications from online pressure. Kelly Marie Tran, who played Rose Tico in The Last Jedi, was eventually forced off social media because of the relentless online attacks.

I was really looking forward to this series and like many of you, I am disappointed by this news. It does lead us to another question; What will Marvel replace it with?
