UK Toy Fair 2017

The UK Toy Fair started yesterday (24th Jan) and runs through till tomorrow (26th Jan) at Kensington Olympia in London. Each year the show seems to be getting smaller.

This is the second year that Hasbro have not exhibited, and Mattel last showed up many years ago – both preferring Germany and New York. This year saw a closed LEGO stand, even on press day. Normally the press have been allowed on to the LEGO stand with appointments but this year since their stand is much smaller, they took the decision to not allow press on the stand. Instead they have decided to allow select press including AFOL’s (Adult Fans of LEGO) and LUG’s (LEGO User Groups) a visit to their UK HQ in Slough to see their 2017 range, at a yet to be determined date (more on that when we go). We should also state that nobody we spoke to was aware of the Episode VIII title before Toy Fair (the title was no where to be seen on the show floor, but was discussed by many). In fact many stands we visited eluded to Episode VIII product coming, albeit without the title. Also, there was no Episode VIII product on display!

So what did we see? We saw a collection of products form the following companies (or in the case of LEGO, we took a nice photo of their stand). All of these had Star Wars products on display, and over the course of the next few days we will share all the galleries. The best thing we saw was the packaging for the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars courtesy of Revell – click on the image below to see more.

Full commentary of what we saw will be discussed in full on the next Star Wars Collectors Cast (coming in the next 5 – 10 days).

Bookmark this page – as we add more galleries, we’ll update this page to include links to them.
