Daisy Ridley is in New York, and appearing on the cover of Vogue. Whilst there she answers 73 questions for Vogue with some interesting answers – the best of which is that she supports London football team Arsenal! There’s quite a few Star Wars references in there too.

With two blockbusters on the brink of release (Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Murder on the Orient Express), it’s a wonder Daisy Ridley can still find time for friends. But the loyal Brit made her way to Manhattan for a friend’s wedding where she let us into her a multilevel, chinoiserie-wallpapered suite at the Plaza Hotel.

Graceful in her BY. Bonnie Young green frock, the chipper actress initially seems the portrait of a lady. Then, she concedes she’s a nail biter, admits that she has four tattoos—or, “four more than my mum probably wanted”—breaks into a perfect rendition of a verse from Eminem’s 8 Mile, and showcases a hidden talent: a piercing catcall whistle.

But don’t mistake her for anything other than a good British girl. “Shall we go to the terrace for tea?” she asks and then proceeds to mix hers with a dollop of honey. If she were granted a droid, the Star Wars star would program it to “make me tea every morning.” Teatime rituals are not the most Anglo thing about her, though—she admits an affinity for Marmite.

Her workout regimen on the road is less than rigorous (“walking to and from restaurants”), but Ridley takes personal wellness seriously. She identifies self-esteem in teenagers as a cause close to her heart and, speaking to that vulnerable group, asserts: “You are enough and you’re right where you need to be.” Suddenly, the 25-year-old actress appears wise beyond her years.

She’s quick to admit that life in the limelight is not all glitter and glamour—“lots of waiting around”—but it does come with lofty perks. When asked what has been the biggest change in her life since coming into the movie industry, she replies without hesitation, “I get to be on the cover of Vogue.” Worth all the waiting around? We certainly think so.
