IGN has an update to the earlier story that referred to the Lucasfilm Games division making a return under the new Disney umbrella of ownership. Based on the information IGN received after speaking with a Lucasfilm representative, it was revealed that Lucasfilm Games was not completely shut down after the closure of LucasArts back in 2012 as originally thought as part of Disney’s acquisition of the Lucasfilm brand. That gaming division has in fact remained active and involved in the overall quality control of their titles.
Since publishing, IGN has spoken to a representative from Lucasfilm, who clarified that Lucasfilm Games has existed and helped to ensure games meet Lucasfilm’s standards ever since the closure of LucasArts.
Any job postings for Lucasfilm Games are due to Disney wanting to make sure their game scene is staffed appropriately for any Lucasfilm properties.
Disney as a whole is still focused on third-party licensed development and are still very committed in working with EA.
