Taika Waititi Speaks Briefly on Tone Used For The Mandalorian Series

/Film has several quotes from director Taika Waititi about a few aspects of the new Star Wars live-action series The Mandalorian that is headed exclusively to the Disney+ streaming service. Waititi, who will be helming one of the episodes in the series, touched briefly on the subject of the overall tone of the series and how it will be influenced by the tone of George Lucas’ Original Trilogy:

“Star Wars is very different to Marvel style,” Waititi told press after a TCA panel for the What We Do In the Shadows TV series. “They know that the tone of the first films really should be kind of adhered to. That’s what the fans like and you can’t really disrespect it I guess is a nicer way of saying can’t put too many jokes in. There’s a bit, definitely my tone is in there, the dialogue and stuff like that.”

He also mentions the series will feature a scene involving a large number of Stormtroopers, presumably all on screen at once (or as many as possible in each respective shot). Head on over to /Film for the full read.

Lucasfilm/Disney has yet to announce an official 2019 premiere date for The Mandalorian which will be scored by composer Ludwig Göransson.
