Sources: Taika Waititi Being Eyed For New Star Wars Film

Taika Waititi, who broke into the GFFA with his involvement in The Mandalorian Disney+ TV series (he voices droid IG-11 in the series and also directed the final episode of Season 1 titled “Redemption”), is being considered by Lucasfilm to develop a new Star Wars movie, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. As mentioned in THR’s article, it is unknown at this time if the film Waititi would be helming is the same project being headlined by Kevin Feige or an entirely different project.

Taika Waititi, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-nominated Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, has been approached to develop a Star Wars movie, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

It is unclear where things stand in those talks. It is also unclear whether the project is separate from the one being developed by Kevin Feige, with whom he closely worked on Ragnarok, or a separate Star Wars project.

Disney and Lucasfilm, producers of the Star Wars movies, had no comment.

As always, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this story as it develops along the way.
