Sources have reportedly told HN Entertainment that Lucasfilm is already considering a second season to be greenlit for Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian even though the project has yet to make its highly-anticipated debut. Earlier reports mentioned a total of 10 episodes for the debut season of the series with a pretty hefty production budget attached to those episodes ($100 million).
HN Entertainment has learned from a source that Lucasfilm is aiming to give the streaming series a second season before it even airs this fall when Disney+ launches. This could suggest that not all Star Wars series on Disney+ will be given a single season.
While filming for Season 1 has been completed, we still do not have an official premiere date for The Mandalorian, which will be exclusive to the new Disney+ streaming service. That is expected to change next month at Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019 during the panel for The Mandalorian scheduled for Sunday, April 14.
