Not much has been officially revealed about the new Cassian Andor spy series that is set to debut exclusively on the Disney+ streaming service. We know Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk will be reprising their roles as lead character Cassian and droid K-2SO, respectively, and that an earlier report about Stephen Schiff being selected as the showrunner and executive producer for the series wound up being true.
But outside of that, news surrounding this Disney+ series has been scarce. The latest word is that production on the series will begin sometime in October.
A new rumor has surfaced courtesy of Discussing Film that states director Rick Famuyima is currently in talks to helm potentially more than one episode from the Cassian Andor series. Famuyima is also one of the directors from Jon Favreau’s upcoming live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
We have learned that Rick Famuyiwa is in early talks to direct an undisclosed amount of episodes for the upcoming Disney+ ‘Cassian Andor’ series. Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk will reprise their respective roles of Cassian and K2-S0 and Stephen Schiff is attached as the showrunner for the ‘Rogue One’ prequel. Rick Famuyiwa is known for directing ‘Our Family Wedding’ and ‘Dope’, he is expected to direct ‘Past Midnight’ for Netflix and The Russo Brothers which will star Keanu Reeves as a superhero.
We’ll be sure to update the status of this rumor if/when we hear more.
