Revisiting That Sequel Trilogy Timeline Animated Series Rumor

With the big announcement coming from the Star Wars Rebels panel at Celebration Orlando 2017 being the series will be concluding with Season 4¬†which is set to debut on Disney XD later this Fall, it’s a good time to rewind a few years back to a rumor that was making the rounds. While Dave Filoni revealed during the Rebels panel that Season 4 would be the end of the series, he made sure to clarify that there still is a future for Lucasfilm animation in the form of new projects coming down the pipe.

Which brings us back to a rumor reported way back in November of 2014 that stated Lucasfilm would be ending Rebels after 3 or 4 seasons and then turning their attention towards developing a brand new animated series set in the timeline of the current cinematic Sequel Trilogy.

Does this latest news add some serious weight to that 2014 rumor?

As always, time tells all…
