Retails sources have reportedly told The Digital Bits that the Complete Star Wars Skywalker Saga we first heard about over the summer is slated to be released on March 31, 2020 in a 27-disc 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray boxed set encompassing all nine theatrical films. It remains unclear at this time if this massive 4K boxed set will be exclusive to Best Buy (there is an exclusive product listing on Best Buy’s Canada website) or if Best Buy will just have special packaging for the set that can only be purchased from them, similar to their awesome selection of Blu-ray Steelbook offerings.
And since this boxed set contains all of the Skywalker films, it means the home release for director J.J. Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker will also be March 31, 2020.
The 27-disc set will not include Solo: A Star Wars Story (already available in 4K) or Rogue One as they are not part of the Skywalker story line. However, The Digital Bits believes a 4K release of Rogue One will also be available on March 31, 2020 making it the first time all of the Star Wars films will be available in the 4K UHD format.
With 4K versions of the Star Wars films currently available via the Disney+ streaming service, are you excited for this 27-disc boxed set? Will you be springing for a copy of this physical media release or will you be sticking with the digital download delivery method?
