Another day, another sneak peek at some of the bonus content that will be arriving shortly via the home media release for director Ron Howard’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Today’s preview comes courtesy of Vanity Fair and their exclusive first look at the featurette titled “Becoming a Droid: L3-37” which highlights the awesome motion capture work performed by actresss Phoebe Waller-Bridge to bring L3-37 to life. Vanity Fair has two different clips from this featurette posted in their article, so be sure to watch them both.

Solo is set to land on Blu-ray September 25 here in the US and one day sooner in the UK. For those fans who want their Solo home media fix a little bit sooner, the film lands on digital HD tomorrow in the US and a few days later (September 17) in the UK. In [this video], Lando actor Donald Glover speaks warmly of working with Waller-Bridge. As she explains, the two of them together decided that the mustachioed scoundrel and the lanky droid would have a “romance with a capital R.” Solo screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan was so taken with how Glover and Waller-Bridge expanded on the relationship that, late in the process, he added a scene between L3-37 and Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra, featuring the rare Star Wars sight of two female characters talking alone together. The subject of their chat—their respective romantic feelings for Lando and Han—doesn’t exactly pass the Bechdel test, but it’s some small progress. Lando’s attachment to L3 is so strong that when she dies in a robot uprising, he implants her consciousness in his ship, so they can be together forever.
