Whilst construction worked has stopped on the majority of projects at Walt Disney World in Florida, new permits have been filed for set installation at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser adjacent to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The permit is for “Fabrication and Installation of Sets” and was signed May 13 2020, valid through to late January 2022. Of course, this does not indicate imminent start of work, and it isn’t clear on the timeline of when the permit was applied for.
The contractor is Adirondack Scenic, who has done previous work for Disney including Frozen Ever After, Na’Vi River Journey and Morimoto Asia.
Disney had previously announned that Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was to open in 2021, and whilst we still think that may be the case it is likely to be delayed by at least a couple of months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More news on this as we get it….
