Lucasfilm has announced today the official release dates for director Colin Trevorrow’s Star Wars Episode IX and the fifth Indiana Jones film. Episode IX returns the story of the Skywalker saga back to it’s regular May time frame on May 24, 2019 while Steven Spielberg’s new Harrison Ford-led Indy film whips into action one year later than originally planned on July 20, 2020.
However, we won’t have to wait till 2019 to experience a Star Wars film in the theater again in the month of May as the currently untitled young Han Solo standalone film from directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will be arriving on May 25, 2018.
The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm announced today two major upcoming release dates.
Star Wars: Episode IX is now set for release on May 24, 2019. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, the film will close out the third Star Wars trilogy.
In addition, the fifth chapter of the Indiana Jones series is now confirmed for a July 10, 2020 release. Both Steven Spielberg, director of every Indiana Jones film, and star Harrison Ford will return.
