Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ Series with Ewan McGregor as Director/Star?

Rumours are rife again about an upcoming announcement at D23 Expo regarding an Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+.

These rumours are not new, go back to D23 Expo in 2017 and you will see the same things about an upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi film. Following the lackluster performance of Solo: A Star Wars Story at the box office in May 2018, it is understood that this standalone film was shelved, even though the film had already gone into pre-production.

It would seem that work was not in vain, and it is expected Disney will announce their third live-action Star Wars Disney+ series, following The Mandalorian and the as yet untitled Cassian Andor series, as an Obi-Wan Kenboi series at D23 Expo 2019 next weekend.

Ewan McGregor is expected to return to the titular role, and reports are also saying that he will direct some or all the episodes too.

Variety have confirmed that McGregor is indeed in talks with Disney over the series. Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter have also posted stories pertaining to this topic. Of course, until this is confirmed by Disney and/or Lucasfilm it remains a rumour. We will be watching D23 Expo with bated breath next weekend. Jedi News will be on the ground, reporting directly from the show.
