During her recent appearance at the FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention, actress Ming-Na Wen revealed that even though she’s always wanted to be involved in creating a new Star Wars project, she was a bit nervous about becoming an official member of that galaxy far, far away as a member of Jon Favreau’s new live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
“So when this role came around, I was a bit hesitant. Because I’ve been praying my entire life to be in the Star Wars films,” she said before gushing over the “amazing, wonderful” Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni of The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels fame.
“And I was nervous, but thank goodness I said ‘yes.’ I would have been a real idiot not to have,” Wen said with a laugh. “It’s a fantastic character. I can’t talk about her, but I can’t wait for you to see it. It’s coming out in November, and I can’t wait to see the whole series.”
Details about the character Ming-Na Wen will be playing in the series are currently unknown. Wen was announced as a cast member for The Mandalorian during last month’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. She also had the honor of being named one of Disney’s 2019 Legends during a special D23 presentation.
The premiere episode of The Mandalorian (there are a total of eight episodes in Season 1) arrives on Nov. 12 with the launch of the new Disney+ streaming service with subsequent episodes set to be released on a weekly basis. The live-action series which takes place in the official Star Wars timeline about three years after Return of the Jedi has already been greenlit for a second season.
