Speaking on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night, The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito teased about his character Moff Gideon.
Speaking on the red carpet at the Emmys last night (September 22) – where he was up for an award for his work on Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul – the actor told ET Online that he’s portraying “a warden of the universe […] who was in power before the Empire collapsed”.
“You don’t know if he’s good or bad… but he certainly is a guy who has order in his life,” he continued, teasing the character’s ambiguous motives.
“He’s an exciting guy because he has all of the equipment and spaceships at his ready.”
As well as sharing that he has “an incredible costume” in the series, Esposito also praised the show more generally, revealing he’s “very excited” about joining the Star Wars universe.
“It’s been wonderful to work with Jon Favreau, and the cast of this particular show is also fantastic,” he added. “It’s Star Wars reinvented. Another universe, another time, and I’m very, very excited to join that universe.”
The first episode of The Mandalorian is just seven weeks away, not that we’re counting — much! You can sign up for Disney+ now if you live in the US.
