Future of the Force: J.J. Abrams Made A ‘Star Wars’ Mystery Box For Chuck Wendig To Play In

Stewart Gardiner, writing over at the excellent Future of the Force, looks at the links between Jakku, LOST, J.J. Abrams and the Aftermath trilogy of Chuck Wendig.

There’s something about Jakku. Rather like the island on LOST, it would appear to have unique properties that certain groups discover and attempt to harness. Other individuals —either through chance, design or fate — find themselves stranded there and are exposed to those unique properties. The wheelchair-bound John Locke is miraculously able to walk again. Rey has her inherent powers amplified (a possible interpretation). Different mythologies, different mysteries. There are however certain commonalities to these mysteries. Of course J.J. Abrams directed The Force Awakens and co-created LOST with Damon Lindelof, but it took Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath trilogy to open my eyes to the possibility of more thrilling links between the two.
