In a lengthy article posted by Men’s Journal that places the spotlight on his successful career and certain aspects of his personal life, Ewan Mcgregor revealed a few details about the new Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action series that is coming to Disney+. He says in the piece that his filming on the project is scheduled to begin sometime next summer and reiterates the live-action series takes place in the official Star Wars timeline after the events of Revenge of the Sith.
“The storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV,” he says, dropping us a breadcrumb. The last time we saw him in the role, “the Jedi Order was falling apart. It will be interesting to take a character we know in a way and show him—Well, his arc will be quite interesting, I think, dealing with that the fact that all the Jedi were slaughtered with the end of Episode III. It’s quite something to get over.”
McGregor also reveals that the series will contain six hour-long episodes. Specific details on the plot of the exclusive Disney+ series are unknown at this time, though The Hollywood Reporter has their ideas.
The currently-untitled Kenobi series with McGregor back in the titular role will feature Deborah Chow in the director’s chair and will be written by Hossein Amini.
