At the Comic Con Experience in Brazil over the weekend, Lucasfilm provided attendees with an extended look at the clip from The Rise of Skywalker that was revealed during the week of Thanksgiving (the video clip is embedded at the bottom of this post). The extended clip from the convention has not been uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube Channel as of the time of this posting and there’s no assurance that it ever will be. However, IGN provides readers with a breakdown of what was seen in the extended footage. Read their description copied below.
One of the most anticipated panels at Brazil Comic Con Experience 2019 revealed exclusive new footage from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy presented attendees at Saturday’s panel with an extended version of the chase scene that was recently released. While this longer version of the scene isn’t available online, IGN Brazil was there to break down what was shown.
The scene starts with Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8 and C-3PO being chased through the deserts of the planet Pasaana. Poe reaches a broken transport vehicle and, like the true mechanic he is, starts fixing it. A loud sound comes out of the engine and smoke is spotted.
When Poe finally fixes the vehicle, Finn asks him how he knew what to do. Before Poe can answer him, C-3PO shows up saying “I did it!” as he is chased by a crowd seemingly furious at him. A Stormtrooper sees them from afar and reports in that he’s spotted the fugitives.
We then see Poe driving the newly-fixed transport speeder with Rey, Finn, Chewbacca, BB-8 and C-3PO aboard it. Four Stormtroopers give chase on speeder-bikes before splitting up into pairs. When the Stormtroopers launch off their bikes via jet-packs, the heroes react with exclamations of “they can fly now.”
As the chase rages on, Poe gains some distance, piloting the vehicle past explosive blasts. The Resistance fighters then get into a very tight canyon, with the Stormtroopers still after them. BB-8 tries to get its teammate’s attention, but Rey doesn’t listen. So the droid strikes a hole into a gas container that then flies towards the enemies’ position. Due to the yellow gas it emits, one Stormtrooper loses control of their bike.
Rey anchors their ship to a rock. The speeding vehicle makes a sharp turn precisely at the moment Rey takes a shot at the troopers. Finn takes a harpoon with a rope and hurls it towards the enemy. The speeder bike starts to malfunction due to the rope fastened around the bottom part of the vehicle.
With the rope connecting both vehicles — the Stormtrooper’s and the Resistance’s — Poe takes a sharp turn, forcing the Stormtrooper into a wall. The footage ends there.
