In just under one month’s time in theaters around the world, Lucasfilm’s The Rise of Skywalker has passed the $1 billion mark in global ticket sales. The Walt Disney Company website has also been updated with this announcement. Congratulations to all who were involved in bringing the conclusion to the Skywalker saga to the silver screen!
J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker rode past the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office on Tuesday, its 28th day in release.
The movie’s domestic tally is $481.3 million, while it has amassed $519.7 million overseas for a current worldwide cume of $1.001 billion.
The big question now is where the Disney and Lucasfilm’s tentpole ultimately lands in comparison to the last installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which topped out at $1.33 billion globally. Analysts believe Skywalker has a shot at $1.2 billion to $1.25 billion.
