Before we get started into my review of last night’s show let me give a quick Dancing With The Stars rundown for all the new watchers out there. I realize many of you are watching the show because of our man Billy Dee Williams and I know many of you may not know how the show works so here is a quick guide.
Every week each couple dances, in the past the dances have been pre chosen by the show’s producers or by the pros. As we have seen with this season they are really trying to shake things up. The first shake up we saw was letting the dancers pick the style they were most excited for whether they were ready to tackle that dance or not.
The judges reveal their scores and this counts for half of the star’s overall total for whether they are eliminated or not.
The audience votes and this is where what you as a viewer does is vital. If you don’t vote you put the star in jeopardy. Many times those with huge fan bases lose out in the competition early because the audience thinks they are safe so they don’t vote for them. The public can vote via facebook, abc.com and by phone. You get a set number of votes per email address and phone number.
Elimination- this used to be done on the following night but now that the show has gone to a once a week format the elimination happens on the next week’s show after the stars have all trained for a new dance. From last night’s show we can tell that the show is hurting for ratings because they are doing things like double eliminations, switching the pros and stars up and more to come I am sure.
This is how the show works and usually for the 1st half of the show it is a popularity contest and the stars with the bigger fan bases that vote will stay the longest. Usually by the halfway mark the competition takes a turn for who is the best dancer. That is why it is so important that you get all your Star Wars fan votes in for Billy Dee each week.

On to the show…
Week 2 started off with them saying there would be a double elimination and this worried me because I was not sure if Billy Dee would survive. We found out early on in the show that he would survive and we could all breathe a sigh of relief. Considering the judges gave him the lowest score, a 15 for week one there was no way to be sure what would happen.
When we get to Billy’s dance we see his package and it started to break my heart to hear how upset he was by the score from the judges and how it made him want to cry. It strengthened my resolve to fight for him on social media and try to get the voter turnout.
Billy Dee did the Tango and I personally think there was a lot of improvement in his performance from week 1 to week 2. They did add a second female dancer and contrary to what is being said on the internet (that it was to hide his dancing) I believe it was done to play up ladie’s man image. He interacted with the dancers well and he moved across the floor more than he did in week 1. Was he still a little stiff? yes Is there more for him to give? absolutely but we are only in week 2. The judges angered me this week by not even giving him a score that shows improvement. He was given a 15 again and I personally think that one or two of the judges could have given him at least a 6 to show that he is doing better. I felt like the snub in the judges score was a slap in the face. The important thing is that he is having fun, he appreciates the fan vote and he is challenging himself. It is up to us to keep him in the competition.
I can not stress how important our vote is. There have been murmurings that he should not be in the competition and that by his fans voting for him we are hurting him due to his health. To these nay sayers I say Do or Do Not There Is No Try. We do not try things in this universe we do them and we do them to the best of our ability and Billy Dee is showing that. He entered this competition to challenge himself and how dare anyone say that we should take that challenge away from him. In addition we have all been called “nerds” in the deragatory sense on the web for voting for him. Apparently these dancing with the stars viewers do not realize that nerds are cool these days. So help me show all these people and show your support in tweets and on facebook pages for Billy Dee and Emma Slater. Emma has done a wonderful job teaching Billy Dee and she deserves more respect than she is being given, she is truly a wonderful dancer.
Voting is closed for this week but if he survives week 3 and dances then he will need your votes so make sure you vote for our man Billy Dee Williams.
