Disney will see their biggest box office total in a single year in 2019 with the release of Avengers: Endgame, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 and The Rise of Skywalker among many others. This total will see a significant rise this week as Avengers: Endgame is released around the world. The film is making huge waves at the box office, as well as taking records, bringing the twenty-two film Infinity saga to an end.
Many of the records set by the first Disney released Star Wars film in 2015, The Force Awakens, are expected to be shattered by Avengers: Endgame. The first of these records, the Thursday night box office total, has already succumb to the Avenger’s superhero powers with a total of $60 million, $3 million more than was achieved by The Force Awakens. It is also the fastest film to $100 million in just 17 hours, beating The Force Awakens by 4 hours. Meanwhile in China, Avengers: Endgame grossed $107.2 million in its first day, surpassing the $85 million took by Monster Hunt 2 earlier this year. In the UK, it has beaten the highest single day take of $14.3 million also set by The Force Awakens, with a total of $15.3 million.
We will be watching this with interest and we will report any more records that Avengers: Endgame manages to beat. Will the December release of The Rise of Skywalker, the culmination of the Skywalker story, manage to beat these totals? Let us know your thoughts.
