Academy Awards 2019 – Best Picture Producer Dedicates Award to Carrie Fisher

The 91st Academy Awards took place in LA last night, and whilst ILM were nominated for three different films in the Visual Effects category, the award went to First Man. Richard E. Grant and Adam Driver were both nominated for Best Supporting Actor but the award went to Mahershala Ali for Green Book. Green Book also went on to win Best Film, and producer Charles B. Wessler dedicated the film to Carrie Fisher.

Ace photographer and good friend Brian Sims shared this great photo of Melissa McCarthy rocking a Star Wars inspired costume of Orson Krennic at the Oscars….

Many Star Wars alumni graced the red carpet or presented awards including Emilia Clarke, Adam Driver, Richard E. Grant and Samuel L. Jackson.

Black Panther got seven nominations and took home three awards for Best Costume Design, Best Original Score and Best Production Design.

On a personal note, congratulations to the cast and crew behind Bohemian Rhapsody that got five nominations and was the biggest winner of the night taking home four awards including Best Actor for Rami Malek. Also, congrats to Olivia Colman for winning Best Actress for The Favourite.

Congratulations to all the winners, and commiserations to all those that lost out. Here’s hoping Episode IX can rock next year’s ceremony.
