NYCC 2018: One Week To Go, A Quarter Million Fans Expected To Attend

We have one short week left to go before New York Comic Con is officially here for fans around the globe to enjoy. $50 Thursday badges still remain as of the time of this posting, so if you missed out on purchasing the other daily badge types and want to attend the convention for at least one day, act now to secure your Thursday badge before they are all snapped up.

In an interview with Newsarama, ReedPOP’s event director Mike Armstrong (you can follow him on Twitter right here) spoke about NYCC and how the convention has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 12 years. At one point during the interview, Armstrong was asked about the expected number of attendees for this year’s convention, and his answer was most impressive to say the least. NYCC set an attendance record last year and by all accounts that record will be broken in 2018.

Nrama: What was the final count on attendance at NYCC 2017, and what do you project for 2018?

Armstrong: Officially, we were at 227,000 fans last year. This year, if you combine our NYCC attendance plus Anime Fest at NYCC x AX, plus our separately ticketed nighttime events, we’re definitely pushing a quarter million people.
