The big news to come out of the Hasbro Star Wars panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday was the announcement of a brand new 6″ figure line called The Black Series Archive. This line will feature “greatest hits” figures from previous waves in The Black Series that collectors have eagerly wanted to add to their collections.
Hasbro will be releasing 4-8 hard-to-find figures per year in this Archives line and will be packaging them on an all-new blister card design. Human characters that appear in this line will utilize Hasbro’s new photo-realistic face sculpting technology, which will only add to the line’s appeal.
The first four figures to debut in the Archives series will be Boba Fett, Bossk, IG-88, and Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot) which as you recall was the first ever figure released in The Black Series 6″ scale line by Hasbro. Expect Archive figures to start appearing on retail store pegs by the end of this year/beginning of 2019.
Patrick Schneider, senior manager, global brand development and marketing for Star Wars at Hasbro, had this to say about the new line (via StarWars.com):
“We have figures in our vault. You want them, we want you to have them, so we’re going to put them in this line.”
