This summer a herd of elephant sculptures descended on Sheffield for the biggest public art event the city has ever seen, and this Thursday 20th October they will be auctioned off at the Crucible Theatre from 7pm. All proceeds to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Amongst the 58 sculptures (approximately 5 feet high) is SKYWALKER, looking very much like an AT-AT. SKYWALKER harks back to the artist’s memories of queuing up outside the Gaumont cinema to see Star Wars way back in 1977, and also winning a film poster in a Sheffield Star, Star Wars painting competition. Looking back it seems a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. SKYWALKER was designed by artist Stephen McKay, and was sponsored during the trail by British Land.
