Back in February, I asked Mark (Boudreaux) whether he had signed any Barge boxes yet? He hadn’t. So I asked if he would sign my third (& last) Barge & NEVER sign any more. He looked at me quizzically, so I explained. I wanted to give a one-of-kind Barge away to a deserving Star Wars fan. Mark being Mark, agreed graciously & after a long search through the SW community, I finally found my special someone to receive arguably the rarest Barge this side of the Dune Sea. Richard Walker is a member of The Norwich Star Wars Club in the U.K. who, along with his fellow club members (both young and old) spend their spare time tirelessly raising money for cancer & children’s charities through the wonder of Star Wars. They also travel the world promoting their ‘Flag of Friendship’ program that encourages friendship through fandom no matter who you are, where you are from or what you believe in. The story that drew me to Richard specifically was one that touched my heart… One of Richard’s club member friends, Leah lost her battle with cancer earlier this year, leaving behind two young Sons. Naturally, Richard & the club rallied around, raised money in memory of Leah and helped support her boys. But what really touched me was the fact that Richard himself was seriously ill & has spent 2019 in & out of hospital – And yet, he constantly finds the love, strength and energy to help others. Even when he, himself, is in need. So I feel it is only fitting that this unassuming Star Wars fan who asks for nothing, but gives everything, receive a small token of our appreciation, respect and love. Fans like Richard prove to us all that no matter if you prefer OT to ST or 6” to 3.75” we are all bound by something deeper. A story that can change lives. Thank you Richard. (~ Gives a knowing Boba Fett nod ~) Your special Barge will be winging its way to you next week. Enjoy and be well my friend. Be sure to show your support and respect for Richard & the #norwichstarwarsclub on Facebook & IG. I will lastly take this moment to say, “Thank you.” to all of you who give up your time for others in the name of Star Wars. The Force will be with you. Always. 👍🏻❤️
Well done to the gentleman that is Steve Evans, and congratulations and thank you to Richard Walker!
