Force Friday II, and a queue of 50 plus Star Wars fans gathered at Toys ‘R’ Us, Oldbury – near Birmingham – to get their collective mitts on the newly released The Last Jedi merchandise available from midnight.
On the whole, of the last three such events – including a similar opening for Rogue One last year – this was by far a more satisfying experience for fans.
Those eager to be first to own the latest merchandise appeared to be better served this time around, with Black Series stock in abundance. The ever popular 3.75 inch line of action figures dwindled quickly though.
Lovers of Luke Skywalker’s island dwelling friends the porgs will love the ‘talking’ plush. Whether these creatures will be as popular when the film is released, only time will tell.
New LEGO sets featured Kylo’s sweet new ride. Talking of sweet rides, the electric Landspeeder is a must for those from around three years old to ten.
“It’s been great,” said local man James Woodcock. “The new range is fantastic – but I wish the Black Series Luke and Landspeeder was here. That was top of my list.”
Christopher Cooke, also from the area, added: “It’s been great catching up with fans from previous events and adding to my ever-expanding collection.”
