One of the main highlights of my time on this Earth as a Star Wars fan occurred back in 2010 during Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando, Florida. While speaking with the legendary Robert Watts at his designated table area in the Autograph Hall, he let me don the blue jacket that was worn by members of the cast and crew during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back in Finse, Norway. Of all the Star Wars behind-the-scenes props/items, this jacket is my favorite and getting the chance to actually wear it for a few minutes was the unforgettable experience of a lifetime for me.

And now it appears that I will have the opportunity to own a replica version of that jacket in the very near future.

If you head on over to the official Columbia Sportswear Star Wars website, you will see a countdown timer on the main landing page displayed on top of the snowy Hoth landscape from Episode V. Wait several seconds and a few images of a Columbia-tagged jacked based on the design of the Hoth cast & crew jacket from four decades ago will flash quickly on the screen along with a release date of December 7 listed below them. The jacket will be available for fans to purchase either online or at participating Columbia stores.

This would mark the third entry in Columbia’s official Star Wars product line following their 2016 Rogue One themed jackets and 2017 Echo Base Collection (see the Related Articles section below for earlier stories covering those items). Pricing and additional photography of the Hoth cast & crew jacket are not available as of the time of this posting, so be sure to keep an eye out for that information as soon as Columbia releases it.

My credit card is anxiously standing by at the ready…
